Candyruru's Silver Cat Adventure - A Goldfish Soda and a Retro Café
A warm summer afternoon, a little retro café and a fizzy goldfish soda. Honestly, it sounds like a lovely day out - even before anyone mentions the cat ears.
SugarCups Candyruru (キャンディールル) - Dream of Kittens and Goldfish (Silver Cat version) comes from Azone's collaboration with doll outfit designer Bebido. It blends an adorable kitten costume with an outfit inspired by fish moving through cool water, and there's a surprisingly specific little story behind it.
The café visit behind the outfit
In Azone's introduction, two kitten friends step into a retro café to escape the summer heat. When they spot goldfish soda on the menu, the choice is obvious. Their goldfish-themed outfits even make them feel as though they could be floating in the drink themselves.
That's a rather wonderful starting point for a doll design. Instead of a generic cat costume, Bebido created an outfit with flowing fabric, striped details and a goldfish-shaped bag. The bag's antique-gold-style chain and lace accents give it a little old-fashioned café charm.
Look closely at that smile
The Silver Cat edition is especially notable because Azone used Candyruru's smiling mouth for the first time on this version. Her Antique Silver wavy hair pairs with bright Melon Soda eyes, a colour combination that makes the black and grey clothing feel surprisingly lively.
She also has a fluffy grey kitten body, round tummy, cat ears and mittens. Underneath the cat costume is a proper SugarCups doll, so the set creates more than one presentation - a detail well worth noticing when you're comparing it with a conventional dressed release.
What's included in this little outing?
Azone lists the doll, cat-ear headband, ribbon pin, tippet, cat body, mittens, clothing and shoes for the cat body, drawers, a goldfish bag and five types of hand parts, including those already attached.
Her base is the Picco Neemo P (White) body. The doll has a soft-vinyl head with inset eyes, and the irises are created for Candyruru using Out of Base OB doll eyes.

The detail that gets me isn't even the cat ears. It's that tiny goldfish bag. A miniature bag with its own theme is exactly the kind of accessory that makes an outfit memorable long after you've forgotten the release date.
